Congressman Tim Murphy is working with the House Veterans Affairs Committeeto pass legislation requiring veterans' hospitals to report cases of infectious diseases to state and local public health agencies.
A hearing was held this week to examine what Murphy characterized as the reporting and leadership failures at the Pittsburgh VA Hospital that resulted in the 2011-12 Legionnaires' Disease outbreak that killed five veterans and sickened as many as 21 others.
