Tom Wolf Hopes to Bring Diverse Experiences to Governor's Office

Mark Nootbaar/90.5 WESA

Nicknamed “the compassionate businessman,” Tom Wolf is one of eight people looking to become the Democratic gubernatorial nominee.

He plans to spend $10 million dollars of his own money to achieve that goal. While he has never held elected office, the York County businessman is the former secretary of revenue under Governor Ed Rendell. He talks about why his diversity of experiences make him suited to be the next Governor.

“I think [people are] looking for someone who’s a little bit different, but who has a record of getting something done...has done them in the right way, and I think that’s what I bring to this race.”

In 2008, Wolf began a run for governor, and dropped out to step in and rescue a business he had started and sold previously. He says he plans to bring that experience to the Governor’s office. He also says he’s interested in using state revenue from natural gas to develop more renewable energy plans.

"I agree with the critics that there’s no perfect approach to fracking," he says "But we could do it better."
