Mayor Peduto Talks Community Policing, Snow Removal and More

Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto makes his monthly appearance on the program. We discuss the new 'Safer Together' initiative that the mayor hopes will increase public safety and improve community-police relations, raising the minimum wage and ways to make downtown more livable.

Mayor Peduto says the 'Safer Together' initiative is designed to coordinate the efforts of the community with the efforts of the police. According to him, increasing public safety involves developing a connection between the two camps.

"Personal attention starts to create a bond," he says. "This isn't something that's like a light switch and you just flip it."

The Mayor also discussed plans to make downtown more livable, mentioning the National Complete Streets Coalition as a model for revising and maintaining our transportation infrastructure.
