Pittsburgh's Heroin Problem (starts at 0:00)
Heroin use in the Pittsburgh region has quintupled since the 1980s, and in 2014, over 300 people died from heroin overdoses in Allegheny County. Pennsylvania is near the top of the all states for drug overdose deaths, with those deaths now surpassing those related to car accidents. We'll talk with Allegheny County Medical ExaminerDr. Karl Williams about the region's heroin problem and how it should be addressed.

Members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community are represented through photographs and memories in a new project aimed to reduce discrimination and stigma in Pittsburgh. Acceptance Journeys—Pittsburgh is a work by Dr. Sarah Krier, program director and research specialist with the HIV Prevention and Care Project and the Pitt Public HealthDepartment of Infectious Disease and Microbiology.
