Less than two weeks after the July 1st deadline, Governor Wolf and state legislators have reached a deal on an annual budget. And how to fund it. It's a stark contrast to last year when negotiations broke off before a deal could be brokered, beginning a nine month budget stalemate. Governor Wolf joins us to share the behind the scenes details of how the $31.5 billion spending plan came together.
 
WESA Celebrates - Cuddles for Kids
 
Cuddles for Kids was founded 10-years ago by a kid who’s now a 19-year-old college student. Conner Hagins started the organization which has given out more than 100,000 toys and stuffed animals to children in hospitals. Conner Hagins and Cuddles for Kids are the focus of this week’s WESA Celebrates.
 
Olympic Medalist Herb Douglas
 
As the world prepares for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the Heinz History Center and Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum is honoring six of the greatest U.S. track and field champions. Among the group is Allderdice High grad Herbert Douglas Jr. who earned a bronze medal in the 1948 Olympic long jump. He is the oldest living African American Olympian and joins us to share his memories.
