One of the oldest collections of contemporary art, the Carnegie International, debuts its 57th edition to the public on Saturday.
The exhibition features work by 32 artists and artist collectives, many of whom accepted invitations to visit Pittsburgh in advance -- well before collaborating on various pieces. Curator Ingrid Schaffner previews a bit of the work, including pieces inspired by their time in town.

And the local chapter of Black Women for Positive Change is gearing up to host its 6th annual Week of Non-Violence. Local chapter president Diane Powell and Micki McDonough of Moms Demand Action celebrate their student partners, explain what they hope to accomplish and invite the community to participate in a spate of Pittsburgh events through Sunday, Oct. 21.
