Chef Tim Ryan On His Impact On Steel City Cuisine

Tim Ryan is the head of the Culinary Institute of America. Named as one of the Top 50 Pittsburghers of All Time by Pittsburgh Magazine, he became the youngest Certified Master Chef at age 26. For years, he ran some of Pittsburgh’s most celebrated kitchens.

Elsewhere in the program, new questions about undercover police have emerged after a group of plainclothes officers engaged in a bar brawl in October. WESA’s Liz Reid reports that Pittsburgh Police have no formal conduct standards for undercover officers. Left intentionally vague, it leaves officers with room to drink if an investigation requires it. But it doesn’t hold officers accountable if they become drunk while on duty.

And as the government shutdown becomes the longest in US history, Pittsburgh institutions are feeling the impact. [TBD]
