Scissor Sisters On World Cafe

One of the best-known acts from the New York City club scene, Scissor Sisters' sound is drawn from disco, glam rock, and, of course, the alternative night life of the Big Apple.

Formed in 2001 by two friends from Kentucky, Jake Shears and Scott "Babydaddy" Hoffman, Scissor Sisters truly came into form with the addition of Ana "Ana Matronic" Lynch, a musician who ran a weekly cabaret event. The three started off as the Fibrillating Scissor Sisters, slowly cultivated a reputation for unabashed beats and unashamed lyrics. In the years since, they've added members, collaborated with the likes of Kylie Minogue and Elton John, contributed to numerous soundtracks, and released three full-lengths.

The latest from Scissor Sisters is called Night Work, and it's full of the beats and anthems the group has become known for. Hear the band perform at World Cafe Live and speak with World Cafe host David Dye about its experience in the music industry.
