Since first appearing nearly 10 years ago as a guitarist for Sufjan Stevens and The Polyphonic Spree, Annie Clark has stepped from behind the scenes and emerged as one of the most imaginative new solo artists of the past decade. As St. Vincent, she's released three stunning albums of unconventional pop and rock songs, full of crazy rhythms, beguiling melodies and gnarled electronic soundscapes.
Clark's latest record, which she showcased in this full concert from Washington, D.C., is the cryptically titled Strange Mercy. This performance originally webcast live on NPR Music Nov. 1, 2011.
