Brandi Carlile has toured virtually non-stop for eight years, sharing the stage with Dave Matthews Band, Ray LaMontagne, The Indigo Girls and The Avett Brothers, among others. She's released four well-liked albums and several EPs in the span of six years, and now she's back with a personal and down-to-earth new record, titled Bear Creek.
Produced by Grammy-winning engineer Trina Shoemaker, Bear Creek finds Carlile in her element: She recorded it in a rural Washington barn, surrounded by family and friends. The result is a great mix of classic rock, folk, bluegrass and soul. Out this month, Bear Creek represents a step forward for Carlile, who took on a greater role in helping to produce the album.
Here, Carlile performs a concert at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, as part of WXPN's Non-Commvention.
