Amid Iceland's music scene, where bands often germinate, blossom and wither in an instant, the twentysomethings of Mammút might be seen as practically prehistoric. The band's five members literally grew up together during their decade as one of Iceland's most critically acclaimed bands.
Now, with the release of River's End, its first English-language EP, Mammút is poised to charge into the world beyond, sharing its enormous cathartic energy with a larger audience. Last month, KEXP brought the band to Seattle for its debut Northwest appearance at our sister-city showcase, Reykjavik Calling. And, given the opportunity, we welcomed Mammút to our studio for the first time ever — after recording them six times previously in Iceland — for another stunning performance.
