In a November 1999 article the Wall Street Journal dubbed Pittsburgh “Robo-burgh.” The city is one of a handful of locations in the U.S. leading in the development of robotics technology. This week contributor Rebecca Harris looks at the business of robotics.
Harris explains that the field of robotics actually includes a number of different branches, including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and computer systems. According to Harris, Pittsburgh’s reputation as a leader in robotics is well deserved, as there are over sixty robotics firms in Allegheny County.
