Schwartz Run for Pa. Governor Appears More Certain

U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz appears close to formally announcing a run Pennsylvania governor in 2014.

A fellow Democrat, Sen. Daylin Leach, said Tuesday he's running for the Philadelphia-area congressional seat that Schwartz has occupied since 2005.

A Schwartz political spokeswoman isn't definitively saying what the fifth-term congresswoman is up to. Schwartz has said she plans to run for governor, and Leach says he's convinced she will.

Meanwhile, a congressional aide to Schwartz says Schwartz didn't know about or approve the aide's tense emails to a political adviser to state Treasurer Rob McCord. The emails complained that the McCord adviser had been unduly critical of Schwartz's chances in a gubernatorial election.

McCord, a Democrat, also is considering running for governor. Politico first reported on the email exchange Friday.
