The Allegheny County Airport Authority is rebranding as its international arm courts new partnerships and adds additional routes.
The new look includes a colorful logo unveiled Monday and a change in signage and local advertising campaign. Allegheny County Airport Authority Spokeswoman Alyson Walls said concept delivery and development cost about $60,000 and was in the works since late last year.
A collaboration with Visit Pittsburgh aims to improve the experience of those traveling to the city, Walls said.
“We’re putting our best foot forward and letting people know the wonderful things that are happening here and the cool things that they can do,” Walls said.
Pittsburgh International Airport has added 17 new domestic non-stop flights since 2014. She said the number of fly-through passengers in February reached 555,000 – a 3 percent jump over the previous year.
Walls credited the increase to better partnerships with the airlines, which have led to more available flights.
“Southwest and Delta and United and American,” she said. “They’ve been adding more seats and more frequency as well, so that’s also a reason we have more people flying.”
