'Hick Funk' from Assembly of Dust

Jam band super-group Assembly Of Dust describes their music as "hick funk." Now the band, which tours extensively, has released a live album, The Honest Hour. The release, from a 2004 show in Troy, N.Y., seeks to impart the energy of a live show. It follows their self-titled debut, which came out in 2003.

Reid Genauer, who lives in Manhattan, formed Assembly of Dust in 2002, after spending 10 years as the lead singer for the Vermont band Strangefolk. His new group, which includes members of Groovechild, Percy Hill, and Moon Boot Lover, presents a skillful combination of jazz and folk, country and rock. One thing is certain: It makes for a great live show.
