Pittsburgh Public School Board voted to renew the charter of one school and voted against renewing the charter of another.
At Wednesday's meeting, the City's School Board chose to renew the City Charter High in downtown and not to renew the charter of Career Connections High School in Lawrenceville.
According to a statement sent to media outlets by Pittsburgh Public Schools, the Board based its decision on the recommendations of the District's Charter Review Teams. Their recommendations are based on site visits, financial and student performance data and assessing of compliance with charter codes.
Career Connections Charter School, located on Butler street opened in 1999 and has 245 students in grades 9-12. yes"> The school's emphasis is in getting students workforce ready.
The District will arrange a public hearing and provide a 30-day public commentary period before taking a final vote on the school's charter.
