Gun-rights opponents protesting at Pittsburgh's City-County Building

Weeks after a gunman killed 11 people at the Tree of Life Synagogue on October 27, 2018, Pittsburgh City Council began considering legislation that would ban certain types of weapons in the city, including AR-15 type-rifles that authorities say was used in shooting. The legislation would open the city up to legal challenges and lawsuits, since Pennsylvania law prevents municipalities from regulating guns. 90.5 WESA reporters followed the legislation and aftermath through 2019.
