The Living Last Supper: A Maundy Thursday Cantata Performance
The Living Last Supper: A Maundy Thursday Cantata Performance
Jesus was celebrating the Passover Feast with the twelve disciples before his betrayal. It would be the last time that he would be with all of his disciples this side of the tomb. At this supper, Jesus established a new covenant with those that would follow him. He took Matzo bread - striped and pierced - and offered it to his disciples as his body. He poured the wine for his disciples as a symbol for how his blood would be poured out for the forgiveness of sins only hours later.
The Living Last Supper incorporates monologues written from the perspectives of Jesus' twelve disciples along with choral anthems.
Join us on Maundy Thursday for a special performance featuring the Hickory United Chancel Choir and live actors. The Living Last Supper transports us back in time to experience the meal Jesus spent with his disciples before he was betrayed.
March 28 @ 7:00 pm (EST) in the Sanctuary
Communion will be observed during the service for those that wish to participate.
