Radio Production/Sonic ID Internship
90.5 WESA is looking for someone curious, outgoing and dedicated for a summer or fall internship producing “sonic IDs”. Sonic IDs are 30-second sound and interview snippets of life in and around Pittsburgh. The intern will be responsible for seeking out different people and entities and recording and producing audio postcards reflecting the people and sounds of the city. Whether it’s be a hot dog vendor at a Pirates game, a bee keeper in Green Tree, a snow cone seller from Shadyside or cars crossing the Tenth Street Bridge, what sounds and phrases and people are truly Pittsburgh? These “audio postcards” will help connect the listener to Pittsburgh and our station. We also will develop a web element with a map and photos.
Skills learned: interviewing, field recording, editing, developing an ear for radio production
