Canada's Sidney Crosby (87) tries to tip the puck as Finland goalie Kevin Lankinen makes the save during the first period of a 4 Nations Face-Off hockey game, Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, in Boston.

One current and one former Pittsburgh Penguin figure to play key roles Thursday night when Team USA and Team Canada square off in the finals of the 4 Nations Face-Off hockey tournament.

Sidney Crosby didn't account for any points when the U.S. beat Canada, 3-1, in the first matchup, last Saturday.

Yet Crosby leads Canada in overall points, with one goal and four assists.

Jake Guentzel, now a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning, is tied for second in points for Team USA, with three goals and one assist.

Two of Guentzel's goals came in the first matchup between the two North American countries, although hockey was arguably the least intriguing storyline of the night.

The crowd in Montreal booed "The Star-Spangled Banner" prior to the game, and three fights broke out on the ice within the first nine seconds after the puck was dropped.

Crosby is one of three current Penguins to take part in the tournament, joining defenseman Erik Karlsson of Team Sweden, and forward Rickard Rakell, also of Sweden.

Rakell was an injury replacement for William Karlsson of the Vegas Golden Knights.

Thursday night's game takes place at TD Garden in Boston. It gets underway at 8:00 and will be televised on ESPN.
