Tuesday morning marks the Transit of Venus. The mini-eclipse, occurring when Venus crosses between the Earth and the sun, has not taken place since 1882. In that year it was a momentous media occasion in the United States. In 2004, it will be visible to most Americans only in the wee morning hours.
