Do “zero tolerance” policies and out-of-school suspensions help the learning environment or push at risk youth toward the pipeline and diminish any hopes for a successful future? What role do businesses, community groups and law enforcement play in ending the “pipeline” and instead helping to build a “bridge to the future?” This forum will connect school leaders, law enforcement officials, businesses and community organizations to discuss ways to enforce discipline in schools without criminalizing children.
Panelists include Heath Bailey, Assistant Principal, Canon McMillan High School and former Principal, Sto-Rox High School; William Generett, President and CEO, Urban Innovation 21; David Hickton, U.S. Attorney for Western District of Pennsylvania; Walter Lewis, Manager, Bridge to College, Homewood Children’s Village; and Paulo Nzambi, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, Manchester Bidwell Corporation.
