Shimmiers and shakers unite: the first ever Pittsburgh Bellydance Festival runs this weekend. The premiere festival features several days of dynamic workshops, lectures, vendors, and performances. Workshops will be held throughout the weekend, and non-preformers can come out and cheer on competitors in the intense Belly-Off in the Burgh competition. Dancers draw a tune out of a hat and are asked to perform immediately to either the live or recorded music categories. The festival then closes with a Gala Show on Sunday featuring the best of bellydance. The Pittsburgh Bellydance Festival runs at various times throughout the weekend at Bloomfield’s Pittsburgh Dance Center. Check out their website for a full schedule of events.

The 9th Annual Lawrenceville Artist’s Studio Tour opens this weekend. 42 makers in 17 gallery spaces make this the biggest event to date. Enter the workspaces of furniture designers, fiber artists, glass blowers, painter sculptors, photographers, and more. Artists will be on hand to talk about their creative practice and to lead demos for up-and-coming creators. Take the opportunity to engage with the art community in the now-thriving neighborhood. The 9th Annual Lawrenceville Artists’ Studio Tour runs this Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm throughout the neighborhood at various venues.

The 43rd Annual Jazz Seminar moves into its finale this Saturday after a week of lectures. The culmination of the week’s festivities comes in the form of a one-of-a-kind performance. Come out and enjoy the music. The 43rd Annual Jazz Seminar ends this Saturday with the Pitt Jazz Concert at 8:00 pm in the Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland.

Get your final dose of Halloween this weekend with a musical twist. The Punk Rock Day of the Dead comes to Pittsburgh’s North Side this Saturday. The show features works from seminal punk rock photographer Theresa Kereakes. The exhibit shows off her photographs of now deceased punk rock pioneers, all of which will be for sale. Exclusive commemorative t-shirts, posters, and books created by Kereakes will be for sale during the event, which will also include music, food, drinks and more. Punk Rock Day of the Dead runs this Saturday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Get Hip Recordings in Manchester on the North Side.
