Looking for something fun to do on a Thursday night? The Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History will be offering free admission on all Thursday evenings throughout March.
From 4-8pm everyone is admitted and parking is only five dollars after 5pm. “A lot of people might not be aware we are open on Thursday nights every week until 8, so if you’re having trouble finding time to come to the museum, you can always go on a Thursday night after work,” said Jonathan Gaugler, Media Relations manager for Carnegie Museum of Art.
And you can take in the Carnegie International collection that features 35 contemporary artists from 19 countries. The International opened October 5th and remains on display until March 16th.
Soon after that on March 22nd, people will be able to see a collection of Teenie Harris’s photographs of Pittsburgh’s Hill District at the Museum of Art.
“[Harris] captured every little detail of what it was like to live there and it’s a complete record of that neighborhood. It’s amazing… he also kind of mingled with [Negro baseball players] after hours. You don’t just get them on the field, but you get them at the bar telling stories or signing a contract,” said Gaugler.
Free Thursday admission was made possible by a gift from the Jack Buncher Foundation.
