Last Chance To Go Outside: Social Club September 23

Let’s face it. Winter is coming and these next few weekends could be your last chance to go outside. It’s just like Stanley Tucci said; fall is only good for about two weeks.  WESA’s Josh and Sarah and Yelp Pittsburgh’s Rachel are here to make sure you are able to thoroughly enjoy the last few good-weather weekends we have.

This Friday is the Sustainable Smorgasburgh Kick Off at Nine On Nine. This event celebrates the restaurants that use organic and sustainable ingredients. Of course, there will be samples galore.

Epic Food Truck Rally is on Friday at Voodoo Brewery in Homestead.  Seventeen food trucks are stopping by to feed the masses. Plus, you’ll be able to get some delicious beverages from Voodoo Brewery. Sounds like a win-win.

Also on Friday is the Gallery Crawl in the Cultural District. This is a great event in which you will get to spend lots of time outside, strolling the streets. Check out one-of-a-kind arts exhibits, live music and yummy food treats at 25+ Cultural District locations.

Brews in the Park is this Saturday at Kennywood because drinking while riding rides seems like a perfectly wonderful situation that won’t cause any nausea at all. But seriously, this is amazing. Brew samples, FREE hot dogs, music and more will all be on hand. Friendly heads up, Kennywood will be running under limited operation, so only select rides will be open. Your stomach will probably have no problem with that.

Also on Saturday is Open Streets Carnegie. Haven’t been to Carnegie? You are missing out. It is such a cute part of town with great shops, bars and restaurants. The streets will be closed, so feel free to bike, walk, roller skate and yoga it up, right there in the streets.

Looking for an event that gives you all the fall feels? Triple B Farms Fall Festival is this weekend. It is fun for the whole family and there will be tons of fall-related activities like Storybook Pumpkinland (we want to go to there), Squirrel Hill Tunnel Slide (tunnel monster not included) and you get to meet the farm animals. People. We are talking ciders, apples, fall foliage (weather patterns might not allow), apple-picking and more. Go ahead. Get your fall on.

To close out the good weather weekend in Pittsburgh, why not go to a concert? Thrival Music Festival is this weekend at Carrie Furnaces. There are a ton of acts performing, like The Chainsmokers (because you haven’t heard "Closer" enough), CHVRCHES and Daya (she got her start with WYEP’s Reimagine Media).

So don’t fret, Social Clubbers, winter may be coming, but there are still a few good weekends left to go outside. Get off the couch and take advantage of them.

XOXO Social Club
