How is your transition to fall going? Have you fully submersed yourself in everything pumpkin? Don’t panic, but if you don’t have a costume by now (Rachel), you are running out of time! Luckily, WESA’s Josh and Sarah and Yelp Pittsburgh’s Rachel are here to tell you all the events that will distract you from your lack of costume and get you into the fall spirit!
A good dance party is always a smart way to distract the mind. The In Bed By Ten dance party is this Friday at Spirit Lodge. It starts at 6pm and it is over at 9pm. You’ll be back in your bed before you know it! Get there early, kids. This one fills up fast.
Nothing screams fall like screaming in fear...and for a concert! Nightmare on Hellsworth is this Friday on Ellsworth Avenue (get it?) This outdoor Halloween event will feature music from Zara Larsson. Confession time- remember how we said we would distract you from you lack of costume? We lied. At this event, it is highly encouraged to wear a costume, so get shopping (cough* cough* Rachel).
This Saturday, South Side is the place to be. The Shop South Side Block Party is back, so get ready to shop ‘til you drop. Enjoy live music from legendary Pittsburgh staples while you peruse the stores. Also in the South Side is a “Truck or Treat” fall food fest, from noon to 8pm. Enjoy music and entertainment for the whole family and let those fall feelings wash over you.
Question. When you think of fall movies, what do you think of? When Harry Met Sally? You’ve Got Mail? Well, may we suggest The Big Lebowski? After all, he does wear a large fluffy, cozy robe the whole time which screams fall.* The dude invites you to Spirit Lodge this Saturday for Pittsburgh Abides Big Lebowski Fest. Put on your bathrobe, grab a White Russian and bask in all things Lebowski. It’s going to be a wild night.
Blue Dust’s Pumpkinfest is this Saturday at the Waterfront. Let’s break it down for you- they will have 20+ pumpkin beers, cocktails, live music and food trucks. All those things are amazing, so that’s all you really need to know.
On Sunday is Beyond the Menu with Chef Brian Pekarcik of SPOON, Grit & Grace and BRGR at Smallman Galley. Pekarcik will be talking about his chef-journey and how these amazing restaurants came to be. No guarantee that there will be pumpkin-related things there, but who cares, it’s Chef Brian Pekarcik.
Also on Sunday is Smoketoberfest 2016 at Roundabout Brewery. Enjoy smoked foods from some of your favorite local vendors, like PGH Smokehouse, Butcher on Butler and more. They are shutting down 49th Street so there will be plenty of room to enjoy your smoked cuisine!
Last but not least is Neighborhood Flea, this Sunday at 11am. Find everything you need to deck out your home in fall-festiveness (is that a word?), with art, vintage items and of course, food (can't decorate your home with it, but you get the point).
See, by now, you aren't even thinking about how Halloween is creeping up and you don't have a costume...DANG IT, we just reminded you. Sorry.
