A new Kickstarter campaign aims to produce a bobblehead series featuring Negro League baseball legends, including three from Pittsburgh.
The bobbleheads, which will be produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, mark 100 years since the creation of the Negro League in baseball.
Among the 30 players represented are Buck Leonard and Ray Brown, both of whom played for the Homestead Grays, and Josh Gibson of the Pittsburgh Crawfords.
As of Friday morning, the campaign had already generated nearly $60,000, well beyond the initial $10,000 goal.
For reaching $40,000, the museum will also produce a bobblehead of Effa Manley, the only female in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
The Kickstarter campaign ends Monday, Jan. 7.
