LeboGreen Presents Mt. Lebanon's 15th Earth Day Celebration on April 28

LeboGreen Presents Mt. Lebanon's 15th Earth Day Celebration on April 28

Mt. Lebanon: Now in its 54th year, Earth Day, “The World’s Largest Environmental Movement,” has generated 2.7 billion acts of green dedicated to fighting the climate crisis and promoting a sustainable world. “It’s not a day, it’s a movement,” according to the website. Held in almost 200 countries annually, Earth Day mobilizes a billion people on that day and every day to protect the planet.

With LeboGreen’s help, Mt. Lebanon is making a difference too. We’re celebrating our 15th Earth Day on Sunday, April 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Mt. Lebanon Main Park on Cedar Boulevard, and it promises to be full of new ideas and a renewed commitment to an environmentally resilient future, with fun family-friendly activities and some exciting eco-forward innovations.

How Many People Attend?
We plan to showcase companies, organizations, civic groups, and citizens who are working towards a greener world. We hope to inspire all involved to renew their commitment to investing in our only home. Last year, we hosted about 50 vendors, nine sponsors, and a growing crowd of enthusiastic attendees. This year we hope to build on that momentum with even more, as we band together to learn new ways to care for our Earth and enjoy connecting with friends and neighbors.

What’s at the Mt. Lebanon Earth Day Event?
Earth Day 2024 will feature a variety of local businesses, eco-resources for your home (like solar and energy efficiency products), local artisans, non-profits, green building and construction resources, food vendors, the Mt Lebanon High School Environmental Club, Upcycling Club, and percussion groups, Mt Lebanon’s Resiliency Board, local Girl Scout troops, and many other eco-minded vendors. There will even be a clothing swap.

Learn about a host of important environmentally-forward topics, including alternative and renewable energy, electrification, electric vehicles (there to explore), composting, recycling, ways to save energy and reduce costs, energy efficiency, healthy soil information and native gardening, air quality, water quality, and more. There will be activities and experiences for every age.

Organized by the LeboGreen Community Group, Mt. Lebanon’s Earth Day strives to be a Zero Fossil and Zero Waste event. Currently, sponsors include: Bartlett Tree Experts, Commissioner Steven Silverman, County Councilman Dan Grzybek, Friends of Andrew Flynn, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and Temple Emanuel of South Hills.

Who is LeboGreen?
LeboGreen is a group of Mt. Lebanon citizen volunteers devoted to conserving energy, water, and waste in our community. We work with residents, elected officials, institutions, businesses, nonprofits, and the Community Sustainability and Economic Development Advisory Board to educate the local community and to encourage the implementation of sustainable strategies. The Team responds to: global and local economic, social, and environmental challenges; to human health needs; and to reducing the effects of climate change on our community and on our neighbors. Our goal is to offer both virtual and on-site Earth Day 2024 in Mt. Lebanon to inspire and to educate our community about all things “green.” https://www.mtlebogreen.org/
