Students applying to schools in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) will now be able to send multiple applications using the same website.
The Multi-University Electronic Admissions Application (MUEAA), which was unveiled Friday, allows potential students do their college research and applications on the same website.
PASSHE spokesman Ken Marshall said the application saves basic information for a student’s other applications.
“They fill out the majority of the information only once when they first apply to a university,” said Marshall. “Then, if they choose a second, or a third, or a fourth university to apply to, all of that information is already per-populated on the application form whenever they go to fill out the next form.”
Marshall said that before the new application was rolled out in August, students used to have to apply to each school separately.
“Filling out a college application is a lengthy process. Certainly doing it online is faster than the old paper route,” said Marshall. “But still, if you have to fill it out three times, it still takes a significant amount of time to do that.”
Marshall said, since August, MUEAA already has processed 50,000 applications. He said some of those are uncompleted, since the system saves applications so students can take their time writing.
