This week our neighbors to the north – Canada - will be celebrated in Pittsburgh via a temporary Canadian consulate. Canada is Pennsylvania’s largest trading partner and export market, receiving 30 percent of the state’s foreign-bound goods. This week contributor Rebecca Harris looked at the state’s business connections to Canada.

There are several Canadian companies with headquarters and locations in Pittsburgh, such as Bombardier, Hatch and Fairmont Hotels and Resorts

On the other side, Pittsburgh based companies also have locations in Canada, like Alcoa, American Eagle and Mylan.

Pop Up Canada, sponsored by the Canadian Consulate, will be in downtown Pittsburgh at 623 Smithfield St. from April 7-11.

On Monday, the Stanley Cup was on display. Throughout the event, visitors can sample Canadian wine and food and meet representatives from universities and businesses in Canada.

If you see a Canadian Mountie around town, shake hands or take a photo with him or her and tweet your picture to @CanadaPgh. Prizes will be given to randomly selected participants.
